my newest favourite; the long island iced tea. loathed by bartenders over the world, mainly because none of them can remember exactly what goes in it. however, any decent bartender will know that there’s at least five shots in a long island iced tea: vodka, tequila, gin, rum and triple sec. the gang’s all there. the trick to the long island is to get the bar tender to make it so strong you can see through it, which i very much learnt this weekend. if you follow the recipe below, you'll soon find that while the taste of a long island iced tea may have to be acquired, the effects of it don't take nearly as long.
1 part vodka
1 part tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix/bitters
1 splash coca cola
pour all the alcoholic ingredients into a shaker and give one brisk shake. fill a glass with lots of ice and the pour the cocktailed drink over the ice cubes. top the drink with cola to lend it color and if you're feeling fancy, garnish with a lemon slice and a straw.
