gor(e)y

so the other week i went to my university library and was looking through the design section for boring texts on situationism and bauhaus, where i came across a thick-spined book covered in skulls. naturally, i picked it up, soon finding it was a compilation of edward gorey's illustrated stories under the title of an ominous gathering. without much thought, i borrowed it and upon flicking through on the train i realised i'd fallen in love. from rhythmic epitaphs to lengthy murder mystery stories, the whimsy and charm of both the text and image never fail to disappoint my sadistic second half. if you're a little into macabre and a lot into talented illustrators, i certainly recommend it.
