le bel aujourd’hui

“but why think about that when all the golden lands ahead of you and all kinds of unforseen events wait lurking to surprise you and make you glad you're alive to see?"
on the road - jack kerouac

i've never understood people who say they can't imagine life getting any better. the world is such a vast and varying place, i think boredom within it is inconceivable. we all become tired with the places we live, yes, but they aren't forever. if you don't like the home you were born into, there are at least a million others totally unlike it. the world is essentially ours, so why shouldn't we use it to find ourselves while we still can? you may be wondering what started tonight's inspiring affirmations. looking back on old photographs of my parents trips always makes me so anticipant to begin my own adventures; live my own life. there's something about globe trekking that seems so primordial and freeing, and being able to look firsthand back on it is a lovely reminder of the great and privileged life you've had. that's why i know that when i go, i'll be sure to take many pictures along the way.
